ĐT Việt Nam chạm trán Indonesia ở trận đấu quyết định đến cơ hội đi tiếp tại lượt trận thứ hai VCK Asian Cup 2024. Hai đội thi đấu giằng co kịch tính trong suốt 90 phút.
Tuy nhiên, từ pha phạm lỗi trong vòng cấm của trung vệ Thanh Bình ở phút 42, ĐT Việt Nam bị trọng tài thổi phạt đền và nhận bàn thua duy nhất sau cú dứt điểm chính xác trên chấm 11m của đội trưởng Asnawi Mangkualam.
Trước đó, sau trận thua Nhật Bản, “Những chiến binh Sao Vàng” đã bị trừ 6.5 điểm xuống 1229.08 điểm, tụt xuống hạng 95 thế giới.
Với thất bại này trước Indonesia, ĐT Việt Nam bị FIFA trừ tới 23.19 điểm do xếp trên Indonesia (hạng 146 thế giới) tới 51 bậc, đồng thời VCK Asian Cup thuộc hệ thống chính thức của FIFA và có hệ số quan trọng lớn.
Như vậy, theo tính toán của Footy Rankings, điểm số của ĐT Việt Nam sau 2 trận thua đã giảm đi còn 1205,89 điểm, tụt 5 bậc từ vị trí 95 thế giới xuống hạng 100 trên bảng xếp hạng FIFA.

Được biết, đây là thứ hạng thấp nhất của ĐT Việt Nam sau gần 6 năm, kể từ vị trí 100 thế giới hồi tháng 4/2018.
Không chỉ để thua trận đấu này, ĐT Việt Nam cũng đã chính thức bị loại khỏi VCK Asian Cup 2024 khi xét thành tích đối đầu đều kém hơn so với Indonesia và Nhật Bản, dù trong trường hợp thắng Iraq ở lượt đấu cuối.
Phát biểu sau trận, trung vệ Bùi Hoàng Việt Anh cho biết: “Trước trận, mục tiêu của toàn đội là 3 điểm. Trong hiệp 1, ĐT Việt Nam đã có một số thời điểm lúng túng. Sang hiệp 2, chúng tôi đã lấy lại thế trận nhưng chưa tận dụng thành công.
Phía trước vẫn còn một trận đấu nữa. Tôi hy vọng người hâm mộ Việt Nam vẫn tiếp tục ủng hộ đội tuyển trong thời gian tới”.
Ở lượt trận cuối bảng D Asian Cup 2024, ĐT Việt Nam sẽ chạm trán đối thủ mạnh là Iraq – đội bóng vừa đánh bại cả Nhật Bản để giành vé đi tiếp sớm.
Theo tính toán của Footy Rankings, ĐT Việt Nam sẽ được cộng 21.74 điểm nếu thắng Iraq (hạng 63), cộng 4.24 điểm nếu hòa và bị trừ 13.26 điểm nếu thua.
Trận đấu giữa ĐT Việt Nam và Iraq sẽ diễn ra vào 18h30 ngày 24/1.
